What is an F10 notification?
The F10 Notification is a notification to the HSE of relevant construction project that are being undertaken within a given time and location. Is a legal requirement, as stated within the CDM Regulations 2015, for all relevant construction projects in the United Kingdom.
Who should notify a project?
The client has a duty to notify a construction project. However, the client may ask someone else to notify on their behalf.
When is a construction project ‘notifiable’?
A construction project is notifiable if the construction work is expected to
- Last longer than 30 working days AND have more than 20 workers working at the same time at any point on the project or
- Exceeds 500 person days

- Making sure welfare facilities are provided.

What are the duties of the ‘Principal Contractor’ under the CDM Regulations 2015.
Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety in the construction phase of a project. This includes:
- Liaising with the client and principal designer
- Preparing the construction phase plan
- Organising cooperation between contractors and coordinating their work
- Ensuring suitable site inductions are provided
- Ensure reasonable steps are taken to prevent unathorised access
- Ensure workers are consulted and engaged in securing their health and safety; and
- welfare facilities are provided.
What is ‘Pre-Construction Information’?
CDM defines pre-construction information ‘in the Client’s possession’
Pre-Construction Information typically includes information about;
- The project
- Planning and managing of the project
- Health and safety hazards, including design and construction hazards and how they will be addressed
- Information in any existing health and safety file.
When should ‘Pre-Construction Information’ be prepared?
Early in the project.
Why is ‘Pre-Construction Information’ required?
It should be prepared to enable those preparing bids to assess the resources they will need to allocate to perform their duties under the CDM Regulations 2015
What is the ‘Building Safety Act 2022’?
The act is legislation which contains provisions intended to secure the safety of people in or about buildings and to improve the standard of buildings.
What are the changes to regulators imposed within the ‘Building Safety Act 2022’?
- The regulator is the building control authority in relation to higher-risk buildings in England.
- Requires the regulator to establish and maintain registers of building control approvers and building inspectors.
