What is the ‘Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005’?
Imposed legislation that requires all buildings to reach the required standards set out in the order and provide adequate fire safety training to employees.
Who is considered a ‘responsible person’ under the Fire Safety Regulations?
Anyone who has control of the premises or anyone who has a degree of control over certain areas or systems.
What must the ‘responsible person’ do to comply with the fire safety regulations?
- Undertake a fire risk assessment - this may be delegated to a competent person.
- Ensure all people on or near the premises have access to a fire escape route.
- Make special consideration to any persons with special needs.
What is a fire risk assessment?
A review undertaken in order to assess a building’s fire risk and offer recommendations to make the building safer.
