- take a charged mobile phone and personal alarm
- plan an escape route
- implement a call back system with office (e.g. a safe word)
- make calender available to team
- be careful in roof voids/ at height/ using a lader
- park car close and keep your keys on you
- make sure you know who you are meeting
- follow gut instingt
- understand rules for construction sites
- sign in and out of sites
- be aware of aggressive dogs and occupants
What does Health and Safety (First-aid) Regulations 1981 say about first aid?
- Requires employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment facilities and personnel to ensure employees receive immediate attention if injured or ill at work
- Employers must conduct risk assessments of first aid needs
- this involves consideration of hazards and risks, size of organisation
- to determine what first aid equipment, facilities and personal should be provided
