The digestive system
The technique that your body uses to digest your food that you put into your mouth.
Mouth
Breaks down food physically (teeth) and chemically (enzymes)
Stomach
Breaks down the food with acid and chemicals like enzymes in the body.
Pancrus
A muscle in the body that produces enzymes which help to break down food particles
Large intestines
Large intestines is the part of the digestive system that reabsorbs the water back into the blood stream.
Small intestines
This is where food is absorbed
Return
This is where food (poo) is stored until it is ready to come out
Anus
Where the digested food (poo) comes out at the end of the process and is the final product however some food is left over as the body does need to use some of it.
Gall bladder
This releases bile to stop acid getting out of the stomach along with the rest of the food as this would burn away at the rest of the body as the stomach has strong layer around it which stops the acid from burning the stomach as well
Liver
This is where the bile is made which is a green slimy substance to stop acid escaping with the digested food.
Oseophegus
This is the tube that the food goes down when it is being transferred from the mouth to the stomach.

Nutrients are the stuff that your body needs to keep a healthy lifestyle
How many nutrients are there?
There are 6 main nutrients or seven if you don’t count fibre in with the carbohydrates.
Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates and energy that come come in 3 different types. Starch, sugar and fibre.
Protein
Helps you with your growth and also repairs broken tissues.
Vitamins
Vitamins are the little things that we need to help us live a healthier life.
Fats
Fats are the things that we need to give us energy as well as keeping are body warm.
Water
Water keeps are body hydrated
What is a balanced diet?
A balanced diet contains all six (or seven) nutrients
Carbohydrate enzymes
Break carbohydrate monocles down into sugar monocles.
Protein enzymes
Breaks protein down into amino acids
Fats (lipase) enzymes
Breaks fats into fatty acids and glycerol

Tar
A sticky brown substance that is deposited in the lungs. This is a cause of lung cancer and much more.
Carbon monoxide
Reduces the amount of oxygen each red blood cell can carry. This is also bad for your lungs
Cancer
A disease that you can get from smoking due to tar and your chances are pretty high of getting some sort of illness from smoking. Cancer causes you blood cells to divide abnormally and then spread to the wrong part of the body.
Bronchitis
Where your bronchial tubes inflame and as well can cause cancer.
Emphyseme
Causes the air sacs in your lungs to burst which can cause heart failure and this is often caused by smoking.
