Energy Flashcards
Kinetic energy
Movement
Electrical energy
Electricity and charge
Thermal energy
Energy transferred from heat
Sound energy
Energy that has come from a sound wave
Light energy
This is energy that has been produced by light
Chemical energy
Energy that and been made when two chemicals bond. Food is chemical energy
GPE
When an object is moved/forced upwards it gains GPE
What does heat do to particles
It makes it vibrate more and if it’s a liquid or gas it also makes it move faster
Non renewable
A resource that can be used ONLY ONCE!!!
Renewable
A resource that can be used again and again like water
Of you can replace it in the time of your lifetime then it is considered a renewable resource.
.
Coal oil gas
They are fossil fuels Three quarters of uk electricity comes from uk power stations powered by fossil fuels Affordable Large amount of energy Natural gas is environmentally friendly. Coal is bad for the environment Gas is toxic and flammable
Wind power
Wind power is made by wind turbines that take in kinetic energy from the wind. Its environmentally friendly
Renewable
Expensive to build/transport
Need the right location
How do we measure energy?
Joules or kilojoules
Nuclear energy
When energy is released during nuclear fission or fusion. Nuclear fusion is the combining of two light atoms to make a heavier one.
It reduces the energy released through fossil fuels. It could impact the environment heavily in a bad way. It is used to create electrical energy in many parts of the USA and Europe.
