Causes of malaria?

A

-parasites of the genus plasmodium
-spread by female anopheles mosquito
-mosquitos breed in stagnant water
-mosquitos are resistant to certain insecticides including ddt, malaria itself is resistant to certain drugs as well
-climate must have moderate rainfall and temperatures of 15 to 40 degrees Celsius
-mosquitos are most active dusk to dawn
houses create shade for the mosqutos to rest
in more deproved areas there is poorer sanitation and more stagnent water

Effectiveness of some of these stratagies

A

-Malathion is expensive so many people in a developing country may be unable to afford
-draining stagnant water would have to be done regularly therfore is time consuming
-ddt is harmful to the environment
-spraying egg whites is wasteful
-adding fish has been successful, locals can also eat them providing a food source
-many see vaccines as rhe aah forward
-mosquito nets are cheap and easy to use
-insect repellent contain deet which mosquito do not like
