Headache and TMJ Lab Flashcards
PC 1 Inion
inferior nuchal line, lateral to inion
FStRa
rectus capitis minor m.
PC 1 Occiput
inferior nuchal line, between inion and mastoid
ESaRa
obliquus capitis superior m.
PC 2 Occiput
inferior nuchal line
ESaRa
semispinalis capitis m.
PC 2
superior aspect of C2
ESaRa
rectus capitis m. and obliquus capitis inferior m.
Ischemia compression steps
place thumb over trigger point
apply a pinching force and hold with deep pressure
warn pt they will feel pain
monitor point and wait for it to melt away
reassess
ME at AA
fully FLEX the c-spine to lock out motion at the AA
ME at C2-C7
flex or extend head through involved segment into barrier
steps of BLT
establish point of BLT
test respiratory phases and have pt hold in phase that provides best BLT
repeat until best motion obtained (1-3x)
reassess
steps of FPR
neutralize curve apply gentle compression (<1 lb) while maintaining compression, move segment into its ease of motion hold 3-5 seconds return to neutral release compression reassess
steps of still’s
Place segment into its position of ease add compression while maintaining compression, take segment into neutral and articulate through the restrictive barrier release compression return to neutral reassess
HVLA OA
force directed at patient’s eye
HLVA AA
apply a rotational thrust at the end of ME treatment
medial pterygoid ST
insert gloved finger to end of teeth and feel for tight bad of tissue
this is anterior to the anterior oral pillar
gently bowstring the tissue
Medial pterygoid CS
medial aspect fo the ascending ramus anterior to the angle of jaw
deviate mandible away from tenderpoint
Masseter CS
belly of masseter muscle, inferior to zygoma
deviate mandible towards tenderpoint
