Respond to indomethacin
Hemicrania continua and paroxysmal hemicrania
Primary cough HA
Primary stabbing HA
Last 2-30 minutes
paroxysmal hemicrania
more women than men
need:
- severe unilateral temporal, orbital and/or supraorbital pain lasting 2-30 min
-At least 1 autonomic sign or symptom on side of HA
-More than 5 attacks per day
-respond completely to indomethacin
Differentiate from cluster HA due to shorter lasting and more frequent attacks and complete response to indomethacin
Preventative medications for cluster HA
1-verapamil
Other: VPA, lithium, melatonin
Last 15-180 minutes
Frequency of one every other day to 8 per day

more men than women
To make dx:
-Agitation or restlessness
-at least one autonomic sign or symptom on the side of the headaches
-
Last 1-600 seconds and may occur as single or series of stabs. Must have at least once daily for more than 50%of the time but usually attacks occur in very high daily frequency when disease is active
Short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with conjunctival injection and tearing (SUNCT)
Short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache attacks with cranial autonomic symptoms (SUNA)
One-sided HA for at least 3 months with an autonomic symptom

To make the dx, the patient must respond completely to indomethacin
