Skin-Skull-Dura-Arachnoid-bv- Pia-bv-Brain
Outer layer- dura mater(tough, fibrous), forms sac containing CNS(sm opening where peripheral nerve exits)
Middle layer- arachnoid( blood vessels)
Inner layer- Pia mater( blood vessels)
Primary TBI (Direct)
Instantaneously from trauma
Secondary TBI (Indirect)
Symptoms from primary injury cause by edema, hemorrhage, increased brain pressure, ischemia and hypoxia & hypotension
Raccoon Eyes and Battle signs and CSF leakage are signs of?
Basilar Skull fracture, high energy and multi impacts to head

Compression- fall, dive
Flexion- overextended spine
Rotation- rapid acceleration force
Hyperextion- head & spine forces front and back tearing ligaments
Distraction- hanging, vertebrae separation
