Signs of cancer
unexplained lump >3weeks
presistent pain in throat >3weeks

Side effects of chemo
nausea, vomiting, diarrohea fatigue, loss of apeptite fever, hair loss mouth sores, dry mouth. tooth decay, bleeding, oral muscoitis infection, reproduciton function damage
Radiotherapy side effects
gets worse with time
occurs only in area being irrraidiated
get trismus as result of fibrosis of the muscle
loss of taste (hypogeusia) due to radiation to the taste buds
Mucositis
inflammation of ulceration leading to pain
happens 7-14 days after drug therapy
impacts on eating and OH
opiod analgesia required

Radiation induced caries
Occurs at necks of teeth
high dose flouride toothpaste provided

remove teeth of doubtful prognosis

XLA 10-14days prio to radio
liase with oncologist

antimicrobials for acute conditions

diet OH Increse fluoride tirsmus fluoride trays tooth mousse stop smoking
