Head and Neck Arteries Flashcards
Arteries from the head and neck region arise principally from what
the subclavian and common carotid arteries
what divides the subclavian artery into 3 parts
the anterior scalene
which three parts is the subclavian, separated by the anterior scalene, divided into
first part medial
2nd part posterior
3rd part lateral
what are the 5 branches of the subclavian?
Part one Verterbral Internal Thoracic Thyrocervical trunk Part two Costocervical trunk Part Three Dorsal scapualar
course of the Verterbral
ascends through C6-C1 foramen trnasversum and enters foramen magnum
course of the Thyrococricic
gives rise to the inferior thyroid, transverse cervical and suprascapular arteiries
course of the Dorsal Scapular
is inconstant may also arise from transverse cervical artery
course of the Internal Thoracic
descends parasternally to anastomose with superior epigastric artery
course of the Costocervical trunk
gives rise to deep cervical and superior intercostal arteries
what does the deep cervical branch of the costocervical trunk supply
the deep lateral neck
what does the vertebral artery supply
provides blood to the posteiror portion of the brain
what does the transverse cervica and inferior thyroid branches of the thyrocervical trunk supply?
postions of the neck and thyroid and parathyroid glands
course of the common carotid
ascendds in the carotid sheath which conains the internal jugular vein and vagus nerve and divides into the int and ext.
int, doesnt give any branches out
it does but they are small and seldom mensions.
course of the int. carotid
passes into atotid canal to supply midd and ant portions of the brain and orbit
