A: depress mandible when hyoid is fixed

Infrahyoid
O: sternum, sup border scapula, thyroid cartilage
I: inferior surface of hyoid and thyroid cartilage
A: depression/fixation of hyoid
N: C1-3, CN I
Temporalis
O: lateral skull
I: coronoid, medial surface of ramus
A: elevate mandible
N: mandibular branch CN V
Masseter
O: zygomatic arch
I: lateral surface ramus and angle of mandible
A: elevate mandible

Medial Pterygoid
O: med surface of lat pterygoid plate
I: medial surface of ramus and angle
A: elevate mandible

Digastric (two muscle bellies running in tandem)
O: Ant - digastric fossa of mandible, Post - mastoid notch of temporal bone
I: hyoid
A: steadies hyoid bone

O: lateral surface of lat pterygoid plate
I: mandibular neck, just inf to condyle
A: protrusion
N: mandibular branch of CN V
