Identity Theory
All mental states are identical to certain brain states, aka Reductive Materialism

A term that continues to be used for the same things
Eliminativism
The view that mental states do not exist

The idea that physical properties determine mental properties
Mind-body Supervenience
The claim that mental properties are supervenient on physical properties
Leibniz’s Law
If two things are one and the same, then they must be the same thing
Contingent Truths
Statements that could have been false in another contexts, e.g., “Warnings signs are always triangular”
Necessary Truths
Statements that are always true regardless of the circumstances, e.g., “Triangles always have three sides”
