Properties that do not depend on our perception, e.g., height, temperature, etc.
Secondary Properties
Properties that depend on our perception, e.g., how hot or cold water feels, color, etc.
Esse est percipi
To be is to be perceived
What is Behaviorism’s answer to the mind-body problem?
To categorize it as a pseudo-problem, category mistakes
What do behaviorists claim in regards to the use of subjective terms in language?
All sentences that contain any subjective terms that relate to the mind, like pain, can paraphrased without loss of meaning
E.g., “John has toothache” can paraphrased to “If John is offered painkillers, he will take them”
