Q

subarachnoid cisterns

A
  1. posterior cerebellomeduallry cistern (L. cisterna magna) LARGEST SUBARACHNOID CISTERN-b/w cerebellum and medulla and receives CSF from 4th ventricle
  2. pontine cistern: (prepontine cistern)- ventral to pons- continuous inf. with spinal subarachnoid space
  3. interpeduncular cistern: (basal cistern)- b/w cerebral peduncles of the midbrain and structures of interpeduncular fossa (A. circle of willis)
  4. chiasmatic cistern (cistern of optic chiasm)- inf. and anterior to optic chiasm- decussation of optic nerves
  5. Quadrigeminal cistern ( cistern of great cerebral vein, superior cistern)…b/w post. part of corpus callosum and superior surface of cerebellum
