dark colored black dead tissue surrounding a wound

liver spots d/t sun exposure

Skin thickening after repeated exposure to trauma
Macule
“freckle” smooth non palpable lesion on skin
Nikolsky sign
specific finding ass w/ SJS. Skin will blister up when pressed on by an eraser within minutes.
Patch
large area of color change
Papule
these are raised small palpable lesions
Petechiae
small red pin like spots, think strangulation.
Purpura
Does not blanch with pressure, bigger than petechiae
Plaque
Palpable flat thickened skin area lesion greater than 1 cm in diameter
Polygonal
non geometrical shaped lesion
Prurigo
Chronic Skin disease: eruptions of pale dome shaped papules which itch severely
Pruritus
Intense itch
Pustule
collection of pus, *not all are infections
Serpiginous
Tract like snake like margins associated with scabies tracts of mite laying eggs and feces
Telangiectasia
prominent cutaneous blood vessels associated with alcoholics- bulbous noses spider like vessels.
Tumor
anml mass of new tissues growth classified as benign or malignant
Ulcer
full thickness loss of skin and dermis may expose subcutaneous tissue, heals with a scar
Vesicle
Small fluid filled blister less than 1 cm
Wheal
Think TB test
