harold's battles Flashcards
what are 3 reasons that harold lost the battle of hastings . when was the battle
1 is better norman tactics. 2 anglos being dumb
- the normans (william) used the feigned retreat, when a rumour is spread that william was dead. This made the fryds leave the anglos (harolds) shield wall.
- the anglos were tired from the battles fought in the south and their rapid journey from the south.
- harolds army was mostly fyrd who are less equipped than the housecard so it was easier to defeat them
what are the fyrd
