Hand II: Ch. 14 Flashcards
superficial arterial arch
ulnar a. is main contributer
- located within central compartment between palmar aponeurosis and long digital flexor tendons
deep palmar arterial arch
radial a. is main contributer
- in adductor interosseous compartment on surface of metacarpal bones deep to flexor tendons and adductor pollicis muscle
radial. a.
- distal in forearm, radial a. leaves anterior surface laterally to pass deep to tendons of anatomical snuff box

median n.
enters hand through carpal tunnel
recurrent branch of median n.
arises from first common palmar digital network
- innervates muscles of thenar compartment
common palmar digital nerves
(3 of them)
- supply cutaneous innervation to thumb, second, third and radial side of fourth via proper digital branches
ulnar n.
enters hand with ulnar artery through piso hamate ligament- innervates central area of palm
superficial branch of ulnar n.
provides common and proper digital branches to fifth and ulnar side of fourth digit
deep branch of ulnar n.
- innervates hypothenar muscles, lumbricals 3 and 4, all interossei and adductor pollicis muscle
superficial branch of radial n.
- in the hand the sole innervation provided by radial nerve is its superficial branch - it is the cutaneous nerve on the dorsum of the hand.
