What are pseudo-hallucinations?
user is aware what they are seeing, hearing, smelling is not real but is a product of the drug
What is synesthesia?
A transportation of the senses
i.e. seeing sounds or hearing colors
Define: Flashback
A vivd recollection of a hallucinogenic experience
There are 3 types of flashbacks
Define: Emotional flashback
Most dangerous type, feelings of fear or panic
Define: Somatic Flashback
Altered body sensations. tremors, dizziness, crawly tingly feelings on the skin
Define: Perceptual flashback
Distortions of vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch
What is a false belief called in regards to hallucinogens?
A Delusion (example “I am an elephant”)
What is an illusion?
A false perception (Example “I see an elephant”)
What does “enactogen” mean?
“touching within”
Are hallucinogens addictive like many of the other drug categories?
No, but regular users do develop a tolerance
Generally Hallucinogens will do what to a person’s mood?
intensify whatever mood they were in at the time the drug was taken
What is a hallucination?
A sensory experience of something that does not exist outside of the mind.
Define: Psychotomimetic
Something that mimics psychosis
What are 2 examples of naturally occurring hallucinogens?
Salvia and psilocybin
