Half-Life of a First-Order-Reaction G.11 Flashcards
pertains to amount of time that a reactant needs to decrease by half from its initial
Half-Life
-which states that chemical reactions occur as a result of collisions between reacting molecules
Collision theory
-pertains to the physical and chemical properties of the reactants, including their states, bond type and strength, molecular size, acidity, and reactivity (for metals)
Nature of reactants
-it is a substance that speeds up the reaction rate without being used up in the process
-it is not one of the reactants, and only helps in speeding up the reaction
-it is later regenerated as part of the product.
Catalyst
Classifications of catalyst
•Inorganic (chemical) Catalyst
•Biological Catalyst
made from non-carbon containing compound of elements
Inorganic Catalysts
-a carbon containing compounds
-widely known as enzymes
Biological Catalysts
