Indications for Haemostatic dressing (4)

Answer 1

1. Uncontrolled haemorrhage from non compressible site
2. Any traumatic haemorrhage that is not controlled with basic haemorrhage control measures
3. Severe limb wounds not controlled by two combat tourniquets
4. Multi casualty where unable to use simple measures due to pt numbers

Question 2

Contraindications for Haemostatic dressing (3)

Answer 2

1. Bleeding controlled by basic first aid
2. Ocular trauma
3. Sites where cannot contact point of bleeding, i.e. PV, PR, posterior epistaxis
