Haem Flashcards
Multiple myeloma features
High calcium, bone pain, renal impairment, anaemia
What does anaemia with reduced reticulocytes indicate
Something affecting bone marrow
eg parvovirus b19, aplastic crisis (sickle cell anemia), blood transfusion
INR range for DVT
2 to 3
AML vs myeloma
See immature blasts in AML
ALL vs AML
ALL has organ infiltration, seen in kids
AML has tissue infiltration, increases with age
What is seen in haemochromatosis
Hepcidin mutation and deficiency
High serum iron, high ferritin, low transferrin, high transferrin saturation, low TIBC
What is seen in IDA
Opposite of haemochromatosis
Hodgkins vs NHL
HL; more systemic symptoms, pain after alcohol, reed Sternberg cells
NML; more organ involvement
ALP in multiple myeloma
Normal
Types of vWD
1; less normal vWF (AD)
2; defective vWF (AD)
3; complete lack of vWF and highly reduced factor 8 (AR)
Bleeds seen in vWD
more superficial than haemophilia. type 3 is more severe and see bleeding into joints
What is seen in myelofibrosis?
massive splenomegaly. dry tap. dacrocytes. polycythemia ruba vera
Aplastic anemia
Bone marrow failure. Pancytopenia
Direct antibody test (Coombs)
Autoimmune haemolytic anaemia
