cancer till proven otherwise

How do you manage haematuria?
A
- encourage fluids
- treat any UTI

When do you admit patients with haematuria?
A
- clots/retention: 3 way catheter + bladder irrigation
- anaemic/renal impairment
- tachycardic/hypotensive
- prolonged bleeding
- elderly/frail
- OTHERWISE next available haematuria clinic appointment

What Ix are done for haematuria?
A
- CTU (with contrast) – check for cancer
- Cystoscopy
