HAART Flashcards
what are the new NRTIs and NNRTIs
NRTI: didanosine and stavudine
NNRTI: delavirdine
what drug interactions are there with NRTIs
all CYP neutral
abacavir interacts with alcohol due via ADH
what are the drug interaction of delavirdine?
inhibits CYPs
what are the drug interactions of efavirenz and nevirapine?
CYP inducers
-cause oral contraceptive failure (increased estrogen metabolism)
efavirenz ok to use with rifampin/rifabutin (CYP induceres) with increased dose
what are protease inhibitors contraindicated for?
rifampin, because all are CYP/CYP3A4 metabolized
what are the potential drug interactions with maraviroc?
CYP, P-Gp substrate
what is special about enfuvirtide?
only non-oral HAART drug-SQ
what can be used to boost levels of darunavir, laponavir, atazanavir?
ritonavir or cobicistat (orally active 3A4 inhibitor, avoids toxicity of ritonavir)
what drugs should be avoided with protease inhibitors and why?
voriconazole (antifungal)-CYP inhibitor, avoid with ritonavir
rifampin/rifabutin (anti-tuberculosis): CYP inducers
what is the most common HAART combo and why?
tenofovir
emtricitabine
efavirenz
-one pill a day
what drugs can be used in pregnancy?
lamivudine and zidovudine
nevirapine
lopinavir and ritonavir
what’s the BBW for abacavir?
contraindicated in hepatic disease
what’s the BBW zidovudine?
anemia, myopathy, neutropenia
what’s the BBW for all NRTIs?
hepatic disease, lactic acidosis
what’s the BBW for all NRTIs except abacavir? which is mostly implicated?
neuropathy
stavudine
