Why wasn’t Darwin’s theory of natural selection accepted for a long time after he dies?
He had insufficient evidence, At the time Christianity was a huge part of human nature and that God made all the humans and plants on Earth he had no mechanism for explaining variety and inheritance and didn’t for another 50 years after he died
How does natural selection work?
It works by selecting the organisms best adapted to a particular habitat, different species show a wide range in variety due to their difference in their genes. The individuals who have the most suited charicteristics are the most likely to survive and breed successfully
What are the advantages for asexual reproduction
it is 100% reliable and only needs one person
What are the disadvantages for asexual reproduction
There is no variation so doesn’t change adapt with the environment
What are the disadvantages for sexual reproduction
It can sometimes not work,it can lead to STD’s and it needs 2 people
What are the advantages for sexual reproduction
There is less genetic disease and more genetic variation
What is the theory of evolution?
It states that all the species on Earth which are alive today and many more which are now extinct evolved from simple life forms that first developed more than 3 billion years ago
