Perfect Cadence
V-I cadence. Makes the music sound resolved, finished
Imperfect Cadencce
Cadence that ends on Chord V. They sound unfinished
Plagal Cadence
IV-I cadence. Often called the “Amen Cadence” for its common use in church music
Interrupted Cadence
Often V-VI. If it is in a major key, the 6th is minor so they sound unexpected
Tierce di Picardie
Where a piece in a minor key ends with a major chord
Pedal note
A single note that is held or repeated in the bass
Microtone
Interval smaller than a semitone
