Where a single character expresses their feelings to the audience
Describe a Duet
Two character sing similar to a solo but the audience gets to see two different reactions to an event

Similar to recitatives in oratorios
They tell the audience what is happening in the plot and what may happen next

The opening song to a musical, covers some of the themes present in the musical
What is the structure of a musical song?
Similar to a pop song, with alternating verses and choruses, a middle 8, and an intro and outro
What are the melodies and harmonies like in musical songs?
- Melody - very simple and easy to sing - meant to be catchy
- Harmony - diatonic
