Gynaecology Flashcards
Gynae lesions
Clues to clear cell carcinoma
Mixture of patterns in same lesion or even slide
Includes tubulocystic, papillary, cribriform
Luminal mucin within small glands but no Mucinous epithelium seen
Hyaline tubules
Sometimes clear cells
Most common Germ cell tumour
Dysgerminoma Looks like seminoma Usually lobulated or nested Very cellular/blue Young age Often has yolk sac tumour associated with it.. Can do an afp and if raised should look and sample for yolk sac
Benign tumour that can look infiltrative
Benign brenner tumour especially if it is a proliferative one
Small angulated irregular nests are suspicious for malignant brenner
Can also infiltrate the stroma in single cells
Malignant brenner tumour is also very rare
Genes implicated in High grade serous
P53
BRCA
Genes implicated in low grade serous
Mapk pathway including Braf, KRAS and ROS
What tumour is associated with benign brenner tumour?
Mucinous carcinoma
Can also be seen with serous cystadenoma
