Staging of cervical cancer?
Stage 1: confined to cervix
Stage 2: Invades uterus or upper 2/3 of vagina
Stage 3: Invades pelvic wall or lower 1/3 of vagina
Stage 4: Invades bladder/ rectum/ beyond pelvis
Screening of cervical cancer
Smear
Mild dyskaryosis then test for HPV
Management of cervical cancer?
Colposcopy with excision/ ablation
Radical hysterectomy and removal of local lymph nodes
Chemotherapy and radiotherapy
Endometrial cancer risk factors?
Age Exposure to oestrogen: - early onset menstruation - late menopause - HRT - no pregnancies Obesity Tamoxifen
Presentation of endometrial cancer?
Postmenopausal bleeding
Intermenstrual bleeding
Investigation of endometrial cancer?
Transvaginal ultrasound for endometrial thickness (normal is <4mm)
Hysteroscopy with endometrial biopsy
Management of endometrial cancer?
Total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy
Radiotherapy
Progesterone (can slow progression)
