What are S+S?
A
Motor - ascending symmetrical weakness.
- rapid, can affect all limbs at once
- prox muscles worse off
Sensory - pain, numbness
Autonomic dysfunction
4 week duration then recovery.

What is GB syndrome? Causes?
A
Demyelinating polyneuropathy. Autoimmune inflammatory.
Campylobacter jejunu.
Viral: CMV, EBV, VZV, HIV
No cause in 40%

A
NCS: slow conduction
LP: CSF microscopy -> increased protein, normal WCC

Rx?
A
Definitive
- IVIG for five days
- plasmapheresis
- monitor respiratory function FVC and ABGs
