A

Motor - ascending symmetrical weakness.

  • rapid, can affect all limbs at once
  • prox muscles worse off

Sensory - pain, numbness

Autonomic dysfunction

4 week duration then recovery.

A

Demyelinating polyneuropathy. Autoimmune inflammatory.

Campylobacter jejunu.

Viral: CMV, EBV, VZV, HIV

No cause in 40%

A

NCS: slow conduction
LP: CSF microscopy -> increased protein, normal WCC

Definitive

  • IVIG for five days
  • plasmapheresis
  • monitor respiratory function FVC and ABGs
