What is anoxia?
An absence of oxygen
What is atelectasis?
The collapse of part of all of a lung
What is bronchoscopy?
A procedure to look directly into the airways using a thin lighted tube.
What is consolidation?
When the air that usually fills the small airways in your lungs is replaced with something else.
What is diffusion?
Your ability to pass oxygen into the blood from the air sacs of the lungs and pass carbon dioxide back into the lungs from the blood.
What is egophony?
A change in the quality of the voice.
What is fremitus?
A vibration transmitted through the body. It refers to the assessment of the lungs by the vibration intensity felt on the chest wall.
What is hypoxemia?
Absence of oxygen in the blood.
What is hypoxia?
Low amounts of oxygen in the blood.
What is ischemia?
An inadequate blood supply to an organ or part of the body, especially the heart muscles.
What is pleural effusion?
Pleural effusion is the build-up of excess fluid between the layers of the pleura outside the lungs.
What is thoracentesis?
A procedure to remove fluid or air from around the lungs.
What is a normal blood pH value?
7.35-7.45
What is a normal SaO2 value?
Greater than 90%
What is a normal PaO2 value?
75 to 100 mmHg
