Guest – Lecture 12 (Augmented Reality) Flashcards
What is Augmented Reality?
Virtual representations are superimposed on physical devices and objects in the real world
What is Mixed Reality?
Views of the real world are combined with views of a virtual environment
Describe the mixed reality continuum / Milgram's Reality Virtuality Continuum (1994)
Real Environment -> Augmented Reality (AR) -> Argumented Virtuality (AV) -> Virtual Environment
** Mixed Reality encapsulates the entire continuum
What are the types of AR - Display Technology?
- Head mounted display (wearable computer) - e.g. Hololens
- See through technology
- Spatial Augmented Reality (projector)
- Projects lights onto a surface, changing the way you see it
- Handheld Augmented Reality (mobile devices)
Wtf is Alternating Reality
?
Alternating between AR and VR
- e.g. Physical exhibit & Virtual exhibit -> putting on Google Cardboard to view the original design in VR
Redraw the Alternating Reality diagram/model
