50 females. 25 with AN and 25 healthy controls. the AN ppts fore filled the DSM IV criteria for diagnosis and had an average BMI of 15.65. control had an average BMI of 22.06. they all lived in France and went to college in Lille. matched on age and education level.

ppts were weight was taken pre disorder, 6 months pre study, during the study. ppts completed the BSQ questionnaire EDI-2 6 point likert scale. presented 51 doorways 4 times, they were 30-80cm wide. the completed first person perspective judging whether they could fit through the doorway and a third person perspective judging whether experimenter (28 year old, 52kg 1.6m tall woman could fit through the doorway) she was stood 5.9m away from opening.
how was this study ethical
gave informed consent prior to study, ppts under age of 18 had to have parental consent. the study was approved by the independent ethics committee.
give the results of this study
AN had significantly higher score on BSQ and overestimated their body size/weight. scoring 1.32:1.12.
AN were more accurate at predicting the body size of the experimenter as 1.227:1.137
no significant difference in the controls
