Guanilo Flashcards
What is meant by the “Genus-Species Objection”?
That you can compare material things to other material things of that kind but that you can’t do this with God, since you cannot compare him to anything. God is not a Genus-Species type.
Why does Guanilo say that the fool would not find Anselm’s argument convincing?
B/c the fool can say that the idea of God is not in his understanding at all.
What is an example of the genus-species objection?
You can compare tacos to other tacos, but you cannot compare God to other things.
True or False: Guanilo approves of the island analogy that Anselm presents.
False
Is Guanilo supporting the fool?
No, he is theistic, too. He is just saying why Anselm fails to convince them of the argument.
