Growth Flashcards

1
Q

what did you show and what were you trying to do?

A

The installation for ‘Growth’ was built around an idea i had for a piece of land art that extended an aquarium out of the surface of a natural aquatic environment, allowing any organisms to come and go as they please, functioning as an elevator or observatory into the terrestrial realm.

I didn’t have the resources to make this happen at the time and I was curious about wether it would work anyway, so i decided to simulate it for indoor display and came up with the main piece you see here, ‘Biotopes’. The other works were situated around this and acted as other agents of simulated ecosystems.

A

this work on the right was a sort of future prediction where i was imagining what a dead plastic landscape might look like
