Growing up Flashcards
Linda
“There’s a girl inside the woman”
Linda has had to grow up pretty fast, as a lower class woman there’s not much option for her. Once she falls pregnant her and Mickey get married immediately and when he’s incarcerated it’s up to her to look after their child and wait for him on the outside whilst trying to support him.
Childhood games vs reality
When they play games as kids they “count to 10 and you’re no longer dead” but when Sammy shoots the man during the robbery Mickey is star struck so shocked that the event actually happened and unable to process that Sammy has probably killed this man, for real.
Mickey feels he’s been forced to grow up faster than Edward has
Mickey says that Edward didn’t “need to” grow up, when he returns from uni he’s still very much care free, only thinking about partying. In comparison Mickey had just lost his job, gotten married and has a child on the way.
