What are grower-merchants?
-own vineyards and produce wine from those vys, alongside wines made from bought in grapes
-vys owned by merchant= prem wines
-grapes from other growers= inexpensive/mid priced wines
=allows merchants to produce range of wines at all price points- sell to range of outlets
Give an example of a grower-merchant
-E. Guigal- Rhone Valley
-produces some of Rhone’s most expensive wines, eg single vy wines from Cote-Rotie
-also, village wines from Crozes-Hermitage and generic CDR from bought in grapes
Some grower-merchants prefer to differentiate between wines from diff parts of range. Give an example of a grower-merchant that does this
-Domaine Dujac- own wines from own grapes
-Dujac Pere et Fils= wines made from grapes from other growers
