What is Group Dynamics

A

The process in which a group is constantly developing and changing when interaction takes place.

What are the stages of group formation

A

Forming - which involves the development of relationships within the group as individuals get to know each other. This often entails a player assessing where he or she may fit into the group structure based on other’s’ strengths and weaknesses.

Storming - which often involves some form of conflict within the groups as individuals attempt to establish their position, status and role within the group structure.

Norming - once the structure has been established the group gains stability and starts to become cohesive. Players start to cooperate and work towards their common goal, accepting the agreed norm of the group.

Performing - the final stage involves all the players working together towards their common goal.
