Initial introduction of the therapist’s hands to the paitents body. Placing your hands in the middle of of the paitents back while still draped. Opportunity to assess how the patient breathes, initial contact for the paitent

Regain focus in times of patient’s emotional reaction
Indications for Grounding and Centering
Introduction of treatment
May be used in treatment when focus is lost
When treatment process needs to be re-evaluated or monitor respiration
Effects of grounding and centering
For the patient - initiation of treatment
For therapist - clear and focus the mind and gives information about the patient’s respiration
Application of technique for grounding and centering
One hand should be placed on upper back and the other should be place on the lower back.
Hands and wrist relaxed and allow the weiht of the hands to rest on the patients back
Minimal pressure should be used
