Ground Handling Instructions Flashcards
To what level will engineering initially refuel the B777?
To 3 tonnes below the OFP figure.
When is final ZFW normally received at home and outstation?
Homestation STD-50 and outstation STD-25 at latest.
How much must the ZFW change before the commander can request a new OFP?
2.0 tons or more.
What frequency should be monitored once the fuel figures have been reported?
132.6
Where can approved fuel types be found?
Aircraft Maintenance Manual.
Which precautions apply during fuelling operations?
- Engine ignition system must be off.
- WX radar must be off.
- Strobe lights must be off.
- HF transmissions must not be made.
- Smoking and the use of naked light is forbidden.
What should the commander ensure in regards to the fuel loaded?
- Correct type, grade and quantity has been loaded.
- Freeze point is satisfactory.
- Indicators indicate enough fuel has been loaded.
- Correct Tech Log entry.
- Gross error check has been made.
What fuel freeze point should be used?
If more than 90% of final fuel has been uplifted at departure airport, use actual value or if not available, -40ºC for Jet A and -47ºC for Jet A1. If less than 90% of final fuel is uplifted at departure airport, use -40ºC.
What properties do wide cut fuel have?
Higher volatility, lower flash point and lower freezing point.
Within what tolerance shall actual fuel uplift match calculated fuel uplift?
If actual more than calculated, 5% up to a max of 2 tons. If actual is less, 5% up to a max of 1 ton.
What radius does the fuelling zone have?
3 m.
How many doors shall be designated for a possible evacuation in case of fuelling with PAX onboard?
Two doors.
What shall the flight crew do during fuelling with PAX onboard?
- Establish communication with the ground engineer.
- Inform cabin crew of start and end of fuelling (Seatbelt Sign ON).
- Listen for possible fire or spillage warning from the ground engineer or cabin crew.
- Be prepared to initiate evacuation.
On entering the aircraft, what shall the crew check?
a. Check the Technical Log.
b. Check validity of Aircraft Certificates.
c. Verify the Certificate of Maintenance.
d. Check Daily Inspection (or similar) are up to date and certified.
e. Check the ADD list for deferred or carried forward defects.
f. Check the refuelling status.
When shall the crew be on board at the latest? When will atuo-boarding in DXB commence? When should APU be started? When should the doors be closed (if possible).
STD-55. STD-45. STD-20. STD-3.
When will the Purser instruct the cabin crew to arm doors?
When the aircraft is moving.
Are flight crew authorised to operate the doors?
Only in an emergency or in the absence of cabin crew.
If the Commander is in doubt about the acceptance of a passenger with medical needs, i.e. invalid or incapacitated, what resources does he have to make an informed decision?
- MedLink
- Airport Medical Clinic
- Emirates doctor through Network Operations.
What are the general conditions of carriage of PRM passengers?
Commander and Purser will be advised of the details regarding the carriage of each PRM. PRMs should not be seated where they may impede the crew in carrying out their duties, obstruct access to emergency equipment or impede an emergency evacuation.
