What is the agora?
the marketplace, all the deities are worshipped here
What is the acropolis?
the hill where there is a temple to Athena on the roof
What is the parthenon?
The temple to athena up top of the acropolis
What are the greek theatres?
city dionysia, epidaurus, ephesus, and herod atticus
What is city dionysia?
located at the foot of the acropolis, on the south side, it was teh site of rites and rituals to honor Dionysus, evolved into the festical and theatres of Dionysia
What is Epidaurus?
located in greece, epidaros; theatre with brilliant acoustics, built circa 14th century B.C., said the a match could be heard from the rear of the theatre
What are the two groups of Dionysus worshippers?
tragedoi and komos
What are the tragedoi?
the worshipers of the dark side of Dionysus, life death and rebirth, derivative of the work “Tragedy”
Who are the komos?
worshipers of the lighter side of Dionysus, “comedy”
