Layout
the way in which text is physically arranged.
Typeface
the aesthetic style of an optional form of electronic written alphabet, arranged into serifs (those with horizontal line flourishes, like Times New Roman, or Palatino Linotype) or sans serifs (those without, like Ariel and Tahoma).
Font
a term that refers to variations within a typeface. Essentially whether the typeface is italicised, emboldened or underlined. It also includes the size.
Orthographical features
the features of the writing system, like spelling, capitalisation and punctuation. Well worth discussing in conjunction with real language features when these are presented in non-standardised fashion
Multimodality
mode refers to the method of delivery (written, spoken, electronic, pictorial etc). Multimodal texts use more than one method to communicated, e.g. a newspaper is words and pictures juxtaposed together for effect; a weather report on television is spoken words, written words and pictures or graphics, juxtaposed together for effect
