Graphing Vhapter 6 + Flashcards
Remember about y =x^n graohs
Always flat with point if inflection still 0 0and can look weird
X4 is u
Reciprocal graphs?
These are inversely proprtional y= k/x
They look like symmetrical and if it is - then other quadrants
Dreictly vs indirectly proprtional
Y=kx , y= k/x
Remember - flipsmit
Trandifkstions
Stretch
Vertical so anything + is + in y
Anything in the x bracket is oppsite
2) anything multiplying whole equation by a is y stretch
- anything multiply them x bracket I’d oppsite of that x stretch
3) again - a is reflection in x and - in bracket is reflection in y
How do trigonometric graohs get affected
If it is y= sin2x, then everything is halved, and including the PERIOD. So it only rohestes every 180 now not 360
How does y = 1/x2 look like
Both reciprocals in top two quadrants
And how would y = 1/(x+k)2 look like
A horizontal translation of -k of the graoh y= 1/x2
Remmeber ti show the roots and intersections esdpailky FATER TRANSLATIONS !
If you want to multiply thr ckntents of one factor by 2 what also kust you do
Multiply the contents of the other factor by 2 aswell
Watch out for mainting thr y axis , make sure youninckude a factor in the outside when needed
