Graphical representation Flashcards
What is a Frequency Table?
Frequency tables are a chart/table which shows the rate of occurrence (frequency) for a number of measured values/categories.
Not a graphical representation as it is a table / chart rather than a diagram / graph
What is Graphical representation?
A range of diagrams that show the rate of occurrence for a number of measured values/categories.
What is a Bar Chart graph
A diagram that represents frequencies of non-continuous data.
What is a Histogram graph
A diagram that represents the distribution of frequencies for discrete or continuous data.
What is a Line Graph
A diagram that shows a linear representation of frequencies of data.
What is a Pie Chart
A diagram that represents data proportionately, as part of a whole picture of responses.
What is a Scatter Diagram
A diagram that represents a relationship/correlation between two or more co-variables.
What are Distribution Curves?
Linear representations of data that include a mean, median and modal score to show a spread of data.
What is meant by ‘Normal distribution’
Normal distribution refers to the average. For instance. If you got the exact number of the average shoe size of all adults. The average person will either be slightly below or slightly above this number. This is recorded in normal distribution
What is a Negatively skewed distribution
Negative skew: A type of skewed distribution, where the mode is greater than the
mean.
What is a Positively skewed distribution
Positive skew: A type of skewed distribution, where the mode is less than the
mean.
