Q

What is the purpose of graphics

A

it is easier to explain using drawing than using words and we can jot down our initial ideas using drawings which can be developed

Q

What are the rules that designers use and why do they do this and what do they use

A

These rules are called conventions and we do this so people will understand the drawing or idea better. we use lines dimensions and angles to describe drawings

Q

describe the types of lines

A

There are threes types of lines that designers use; they come from conventions; they are outlines, construction lines and hidden detail lines.
Outlines - Dark continuous lines that indicate the outline of an object or the parts that are visible.(straight or curved)
Construction lines - Thin, feint, continuous lines that help construct other lines. (straight or curved)
Hidden detail lines - A dashed line that show the parts that are out of sight.

Q

when do we use technology

A
  • find creative and innovative solutions to new problems
  • find different solutions to existing problems
  • to find temporary or short term solutions in emergency situations
  • solve human needs and wants

Q

what rules must you follow when you dimension a drawing

A
  • 3 main dimensions = length, breadth and the height
  • dimension lines, continuous, light coloured used to show distance between 2 points
  • have arrowheads on the end of lines
  • dimensions, written above dimension lines
  • all measurements in mm

Q

what are some of the dimension tools

A
  • Rulers - used for measurements + drawing straight lines (not for cutting with craft knife)
  • Erasers - correct errors + shading
  • H or HB pencil - used to draw
  • Set squares or protractors - used for drawing angles
  • Compass - used to draw circles

Q

what is scale drawing

A

it is the method in which we draw objects bigger or smaller on a page to get more detail or to make it fit on the page

Q

explain what it means and how to write it when I say something is 20 times smaller

A

you write it like this 1:20
1=the length of the drawing 20=the length it is in real life
this means that the object that is being drawn is 20 smaller on the page than it is in real life

Q

what should always be in a scale drawing

A
  • real size / dimension of object shown in drawing
  • the measurements are in mm
  • scale is always shown on drawing
