- that, which, who, whom: called relative pronoun ALSO: what, when, where, whoever, whomever, whose
- does not convey complete idea; missing the noun(s) that the relative pronoun refers to
- tells us more (modifies) a noun or pronoun
- who/whom people or favoured pets
- that/which when referring to things, animals, ideas

A
- FANBOYS (for and nor but or yet so)
- joins things of equal weight; so can’t join independent and relative or subordinate
- can also be correlative conjunctions (neither..nor etc)
- “so” except when used as “in order that”
