- NSAIDs (+/1 PPI)
- Colchicine
- Short course of an oral corticosteroids

What can be given for gout if none of the first line options are suitable ?
A
Intra-articular or IM corticosteroid

What is done in a follow up appointment to a flare of gout ?
A
- Measure serum urate
- Assess lifestyle or comorbidities (CVD & CKD risk)
- Discuss that excess body weight/obesity or excess alcohol may exacerbate gout
- DIscuss pros and cons of ULT

when are ULT offered ?
A
- Multiple flares, CKD 3-5, diuretic therapy, tophi, chronic gouty arthritis

what is used to prevent gout
A
- Allopurinol (always in major CVD) or febuxostat
