Bureau of Labor Statistics
DOL’s fact-finding unit, responsible for collecting, processing, analyzing, and disseminating statistical data related to labor, employment, and economic conditions.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection
The law enforcement agency within DHS responsible for border enforcement.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services
The agency within DHS responsible for the adjudication of immigrant and non-immigrant visa classifications, including the H-2B program.
Chicago National Processing Center
The DOL office that processes all H-2B applications.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
The cabinet-level federal department responsible for national security and immigration issues. DHS is the parent department of CIS. The department is headed by the Secretary of Homeland Security.
U.S. Department of Labor
The cabinet-level federal department responsible for occupational safety and health, wage and hour standards, employment issues, and labor market statistics/information. DOL is the parent department of ETA, OFLC, and WHD. The department is headed by the Secretary of Labor.
Employment and Training Administration
The office within DOL that provides training, employment, labor market information, and income maintenance services (e.g., unemployment insurance benefits). ETA is the parent department of OFLC.
Office of Foreign Labor Certification
The office within the DOL’s ETA that administers the H-2B programs and adjudicates temporary labor certifications.
State Workforce Agency
The local employment services of each state, tasked with processing H-2B Job Orders and referring local U.S. job applicants to the job positions.
Wage and Hour Division
The office within DOL that enforces all federal labor laws and regulations. WHD is responsible for on-site audits and investigations.
