Steps of how a bill is past

A
  • introduction/proposal of the bill, first reading(bill is given a title, printed, and receives a number
  • second reading, bill is debated and voted on
  • committee stage, bill is examined line by line
  • report stage, amendments are made, reading of amended bill and it’s voted on
  • third reading, debate and vote on amended bill
  • goes to senate and the process is repeated.

Crown-bill is given royal assent and the Governor General makes the bill into a law
