A

URIC ACID CRYSTAL DEPOSITION IN JOINTS

causes significant pain from reactive inflammation

hyperuricemia - high uric acid levels

enhanced by obesity & alcohol

  • usually on the great toe
  • rapid onset - hours
  • NSAIDs to treat

Signs:
- Radiographs (loss of joint space)
